Firefighter standing in front of a forest

The recent wildfires in California have left a path of destruction, impacting countless lives and communities. Homes, schools, synagogues, and entire neighborhoods have been reduced to ashes. As firefighters bravely battle the blazes, we can offer much-needed support to those affected.

Your JCF donor advised fund can be a powerful tool to provide immediate assistance. Here’s how you can make a difference:

Support Local Relief Efforts:

Directly support communities in need by recommending a grant from your JCF fund to one of the following organizations:

  • Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles: They have established a dedicated Wildfire Relief Fund to address the urgent needs of the Jewish community impacted by the fires. This includes providing temporary housing, food, and other essential resources.
  • Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation: This organization provides essential resources and support to the firefighters on the front lines, ensuring they have the equipment and tools they need to combat the fires effectively.
  • UJA-Federation of New York: UJA-Federation of New York has established a Disaster Relief Fund to support those affected by the California wildfires. They are working with local partners to provide critical aid, including emergency housing, food, and counseling services.
  • Pasadena Jewish Temple and Center: This synagogue tragically burned down in the fires and requires funds to rebuild and continue serving its community. Your grant can help them restore this vital community hub.
  • AFYA:  Afya provides essential medical supplies and healthcare services to those affected by the wildfires, ensuring access to critical care during this difficult time.
  • SPCA LA: The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles is working tirelessly to rescue and care for animals displaced and injured by the fires. Your support can help provide shelter, food, and veterinary care to these vulnerable animals.
  • Jewish Free Loan Association (JFLA): JFLA provides zero-interest, zero-fee loans to people facing financial hardship due to the wildfires. These loans can help individuals and families with temporary housing, repairs, and other urgent needs.

We will continue to update this list with additional organizations as we gather more information.
